This piece was created for the Yankari Afrobeat Collective, a Dublin based Afrobeat band. The song, and the painting created for its cover, reference the same shocking incident — a Nigerian accused of misappropriating funds defended himself by stating it was a snake that swallowed the cash. This story which garnered global infamy illustrates the, at times, farcical nature of life in Nigeria, and alludes to the detrimental effects of having one usurp that which is meant for all.
